Signs of Hypothyroidism | UCLA Endocrine Center
In this video, Stephanie Smooke Praw, MD, an endocrinologist at the UCLA Endocrine Center, explains the signs of hypothyroidism. This is a condition caused by not having enough thyroid hormone.
The thyroid gland, a small butterfly-shaped gland in the neck, produces hormones that help control certain functions in the body. Sometimes the thyroid doesn’t produce enough hormones. This causes symptoms like feeling more tired or sluggish than usual, sensitivity to cold, constipation or difficulty having a bowel movement, dry skin, hair loss, and weight gain even with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
If you think you might have hypothyroidism, schedule an appointment with your doctor.
