part of an unrelated treatment for depression.<\/a><\/p>\nAhead of his sentencing, Morrison wrote a victim impact statement obtained by NBC News. In it Morrison described her son \u2014 whom she called \u201cMatso\u201d \u2014 as someone who called her \u201cMomma-Mooma,\u201d a childhood name he used for her throughout his life.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was my Matso, my Manew. He was, in spite of all we went through, my heart and my soul,\u201d Morrison wrote.\u201cAnd then one night he was just a body, lying almost naked on the cold, damp grass of his backyard.\u201d<\/p>\n
She continued: \u201cHelicopters circled overhead, eager for a glimpse of my dead little boy \u2014 a picture they could show the whole world \u2014 while I stood out on the street in the cold and begged for a blanket to cover him. Impossible, of course.\u201d<\/p>\n
Morrison wrote that Perry fought \u201chalf his life \u2014 more than half \u2014 against addiction.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe fought and failed, and came back to fight again,\u201d she wrote. \u201cBy the time of his death, he knew more about that particular treachery than almost anyone. He wanted to help others avoid the terrible thing he had lived with for so long, but he was also determined to continue his career as an actor and a writer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Morrison said Perry trusted Iwamasa, whom he called \u201cKenny,\u201d and that his family believed that Iwamasa \u201cunderstood\u201d his struggle with addiction. Yet despite supposedly serving as \u201chis companion and guardian in his fight against addiction,\u201d Iwamasa enabled him instead.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe shot the drugs into Matthew\u2019s body, though he was not in the least qualified. He did it even though anyone could see how obviously dangerous it was. And he did it again and again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Morrison also wrote that Iwamasa \u201cinsisted\u201d on speaking at Perry\u2019s funeral and portrayed himself as the \u201cgood guy who tried to save Matthew.\u201d She said he sent her songs and tried to remain close to the family afterward.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe clung to me and the family as if he were somehow the good guy who tried to save Matthew,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe trusted a man without a conscience,\u201d Morrison wrote, \u201cand my son paid the price.\u201d<\/p>\n
Iwamasa\u2019s sentencing is scheduled for May 27.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
