(Photo by Terry Wyatt\/WireImage)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dolly Parton shared a new health update with fans in an Instagram video.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Though she didn\u2019t specify exactly what health issues she\u2019s facing, Parton noted previous challenges with her kidney health as well as weakened immune and digestive systems.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The country music legend also revealed that medication side effects forced her to cancel her upcoming Las Vegas shows.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Dolly Parton shared \u201csome good news, and a little bad news,\u201d about her health in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DX7If9QJNgu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"content-link css-1c2ok3c\">Instagram reel<\/a> posted across her various social media accounts on May 4.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThe good news is, I\u2019m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I\u2019m improving every day,\u201d the country music icon said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Parton, 80, didn\u2019t specify exactly what she\u2019s being treated for, but she noted that she\u2019s \u201calways had problems with my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/kidney-stones\" class=\"content-link css-1c2ok3c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kidney stones<\/a>,\u201d joking that \u201cthey dig more stones out of me a year than the rock quarry in Rockwood, Tennessee.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>She further elaborated that her immune and digestive systems \u201cgot all out of whack over the past three years,\u201d and that her care team is \u201cworking real hard on rebuilding and strengthening those.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>She also apologized to fans for needing to cancel her previously postponed Las Vegas shows \u201cbecause some of the meds and treatments make me a little bit swimmy-headed \u2026 and of course, I can\u2019t be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars and such on five-inch heels.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The new update comes only eight months after Parton originally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/dollyparton\/p\/DPKWUr7Dk06\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"content-link css-1c2ok3c\">announced<\/a> on Instagram that she needed to postpone her Las Vegas concerts due to \u201chealth challenges\u201d she was facing that would require \u201ca few procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>However, despite the \u201cserious business\u201d of her current health, Parton assured fans that she is \u201cdoing really well\u201d and has \u201cgreat doctors\u201d who told her \u201ceverything I have is treatable.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Though Parton said \u201cit\u2019s going to take me a little while before I\u2019m up to stage-performance level,\u201d she hopes to be \u201cup to snuff again soon\u201d and intends to continue working during her recovery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThe truth is, I am still working. I still do videos. I still record. I run up and down to Dollywood now and then,\u201d Parton said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>She also noted that she\u2019s \u201cworking hard on getting my museum and my hotel open in Nashville later this year,\u201d as well as \u201cspending a lot of time writing and reworking\u201d her upcoming Broadway musical, <em>Dolly: A True Original Musical<\/em>, which is set to open in \u201cfall or early winter\u201d of 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"tabbed-article-section\"><span style=\"font-size:0;line-height:0\"\/><span style=\"font-size:0;line-height:0\"\/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Parton also thanked fans for the outpouring of love and support she received following the death of her husband, Carl Dean.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Dean, who married Parton in 1966 and largely stayed out of the public spotlight throughout their decades-long marriage, passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 82.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cA lot of you\u2019ve been concerned about me and Carl, and you were so great about that,\u201d she said in the video. \u201cI will always love him, and I will always miss him, but you would be surprised at how much your love and concern meant to me during that time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cFrom the bottom of my heart, I thank you,\u201d she continued. \u201cYou have been a big part of my healing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Despite the challenges she\u2019s faced, Parton told fans she remains optimistic about the future and grateful for the support she continues to receive, noting in the video\u2019s caption, \u201cI\u2019ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><em>This is a developing story.
