His lawyers wrote that they believe he has also been unable to review case documents they leave for him.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-c7c202\" class=\"body-graf\">The motion \u2014 signed by defense attorneys A.J. Kramer, Tezira Abe and Eugene Ohm \u2014 states that while Allen&#8217;s attorney&#8217;s do not believe there is &#8220;expressed intent to punish&#8221; him, &#8220;his placement on suicide precautions amounts to punishment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-f7036d\" class=\"body-graf\">Kramer did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-8a549b\" class=\"body-graf\">The Justice Department has not responded to the filing, according to court records. A spokesperson for the D.C. Department of Corrections, which operates the facility where Allen is being held, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-5f520e\" class=\"body-graf\">Allen, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/cole-tomas-allen-made-jarring-transformation-leading-christian-student-rcna342263\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a California teacher<\/a>, is charged with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/cole-allen-trump-assassination-attempt-charge-court-hearing-rcna342356\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attempting to assassinate the president<\/a>, transportation of a firearm and ammunition in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony, and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-edaffb\" class=\"body-graf\">A judge this week ordered that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/politics-news\/suspect-white-house-correspondents-association-dinner-shooting-court-rcna342852\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remain held in custody<\/a> as the case proceeds. Allen has not entered a plea. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-434b96\" class=\"body-graf\">Video the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/new-video-shows-correspondents-dinner-suspect-shooting-officer-top-pro-rcna343010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Justice released this week<\/a> shows a man identified as Allen running through a security checkpoint. It also shows him shooting a Secret Service officer, said Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-c7839d\" class=\"body-graf\">Allen said in writings that he intended to target members of the Trump administration from highest-ranking to lowest, prosecutors have said. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-18a578\" class=\"endmark body-graf\">The scramble to protect the president and whisk away dignitaries \u2014 including first lady Melania Trump, multiple members of the president\u2019s cabinet and Congress \u2014 took place as the dinner was underway in the hotel ballroom.
