However, if your liver is weak, damaged, or bogged down with toxins, it\u2019s not going to be able to handle all that protein. This can cause a lot of bad breath, it can clog up the lymphatic system, and it can build up more toxins and fat in your liver. <\/p>\n<p>Aside from the liver, protein also doesn\u2019t provide all of the nutrients you need to stay healthy. Sources of protein and provide amino acids and some essential fatty acids. However, they don\u2019t provide many of the vitamins and minerals you need on a regular basis. <\/p>\n<p>So if you are consuming nothing but meat, you can develop a lot of nutrient deficiencies\u2014especially in potassium and calcium. <\/p>\n<p>Potassium is vital to:<br \/>\n\u2022 Heart health<br \/>\n\u2022 Healthy blood sugar levels<br \/>\n\u2022 Counteracting toxins<br \/>\n\u2022 Muscle health<br \/>\nAnd much more. <\/p>\n<p>Potassium is only found in plant foods. <\/p>\n<p>If you are on a high-protein diet, I recommend that you eat a lot of low-carb vegetables (7-10 cups a day) to help counteract the problems that too much protein can cause. <\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that non-starchy vegetables won\u2019t slow down weight loss\u2014even if they do contain small amounts of carbs. Just avoid grains, fruit, and vegetables like potatoes. <\/p>\n<p>The more you age, the more difficult it becomes to process protein.
